May 2016 IKNS IB Results
This is the 25 thbatch of IB Diploma students who achieved a superb Diploma Points Average of 35 points (out of a maximum of 45 points), which is well above the world average of 30 points. Thirty-_‐one students obtained the IB Diploma, with fifteen of them achieving the distinguished bilingual diploma. The pass rate was 97% and the average grade obtained by IKNS
candidates who passed the diploma was 5.52 (out of a maximum of 7). Eighteen other IKNS students obtained certificates in one or more IB subjects, achieving good grades.
We are very proud of all of the students who worked conscientiously to satisfy the rigorous requirements of the IB diploma. The highest score was an outstanding 42 diploma points achieved by Saif Jamsheer and Noor AlBusta, followed by 41 diploma points achieved by Salman Mutawa. Twenty students obtained diploma scores in the distinguished range of 34-_‐45 points.
May 2016 IKNS IB Results per Subject
We are very pleased that the IKNS school average in the majority of subjects was above the worldwide average. Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Visual Arts students sat for examinations in new programmes this session and it was the first time that our students sat for English B at the Higher Level.
Table 1 shows the analysis of the May 2016 results per subject. The number of IKNS candidates who sat for each subject, the number of students achieving each grade (out of 7), and the IKNS and worldwide average grades for each subject.
Theory of Knowledge:
All students passed with two students achieving “A”, twelve students achieving “B”, sixteen students achieving “C”, two students achieving “D”, and none of the students achieving “E”.
Extended Essays:
All students passed with nine students achieving an “A”, eleven students achieving “B”, ten students achieving “C”, three students achieving “D”, and none of the students achieving “E”.
Arabic A was the most popular extended essay subject, followed by Arabic B, English A and ITGS. We also had extended essays in Chemistry, Physics, History, Visual Arts and Economics this session.
