May 2013 IKNS IB Results
Thirty IKNS students obtained the IB diploma in May 2013, twenty-_‐three of them achieving the distinguished bilingual diploma. We are extremely proud of all of the students who worked hard to satisfy the rigorous requirements of the IB diploma. Two students obtained outstanding diploma scores in the forties, and twelve students obtained diploma scores in the distinguished range of 34-_‐45 points.
The mean diploma point score for IKNS students was 32 points this year, which was significantly higher than the world average of 29.81 points. The pass rate in the IB diploma this session was 91%.
Twenty-_‐six other IKNS students obtained certificates in one or more IB subjects, achieving very good grades. The average grade obtained by all candidates (diploma and certificate) was 5.2 (out of a maximum of 7).
May 2013 IKNS IB Results per Subject
We are very pleased that the IKNS school average in most subjects was higher than the worldwide average. Arabic, English and Economics sat for examinations in new programmes this session.
Table 1 shows the analysis of the May 2013 results per subject. The number of IKNS candidates who sat for each subject, the number of students achieving each grade (out of 7), and the IKNS and worldwide average grades for each subject.
Theory of Knowledge:
All students passed with one student achieving “A”, ten students achieving “B”, nineteen students achieving “C”, four students achieving “D”, and none of the students achieving “E”
Extended Essays:
All students passed with seven students achieving an “A”, sixteen students achieving “B”, eight students achieving “C”, four students achieving “D”, and none of the students achieving “E”.
Arabic A was the most popular subject, followed by Chemistry, English and History. We also had extended essays in Business, Economics, ITGS, Politics, Psychology, Biology, Physics and Visual Arts. Many thanks to all supervisors who invested many hours in guiding the students. It was an enriching experience for most.
