Hamad bin Humood Al Khalifa, first Bahraini to participate in the UN Youth Climate Summit, in New York
Oct 02, 2019
We would like to congratulate Hamad bin Humood Al Khalifa, IKNS Alumni (Class of 2019), for being the first Bahraini to participate in the UN Youth Climate Summit, in the UN headquarters in New York.
Hamad was chosen amongst 500 international youth climate activists by the UN Secretary-General. The summit brings together young activists and change-makers committed to combating climate change.
During the summit, he had the pleasure of meeting with H.E. Ola Elvestuen, Minister of Climate and Environment of Norway, and H.E. Carolina Schmidt, Minister of Environment of Chile, who both emphasized the importance of grassroots climate activism from local communities just like IKNS.
Hamad stated that such an achievement would not have been possible without the excellent work environment at IKNS, which has helped him grow and develop his passion for climate activism. We are proud of your achievements, and wish you the best of luck!
